Herbs Perfect For BBQ’s

Right, let’s have a little chat about herbs. June is a brilliant time for them, especially if you’re into summer cooking or BBQs. At the garden centre, we’ve got a lovely range of herbs in handy 9cm pots. They’re perfect to take home and plant in a sunny spot, in the garden or in containers by the kitchen door.

Basil is a real favourite of mine in the summer. I love using it with tomatoes or whizzed into a quick pesto. Rosemary’s another go-to, especially when you’re cooking on the BBQ, and yes, it smells as good as it tastes.

Mint is brilliant in drinks or chopped over salads, but I always say pop it in a pot or it’ll run riot. And if you haven’t tried marjoram, it’s such a lovely herb with a sweet flavour that works a treat with grilled veg or meat.

I’ve put together a little video with a few more of my favourite herbs, including thyme, parsley and chives. There are also a couple of handy tips for keeping them happy through the warmer months, perfect if you’re planning to cook outside or just want to add a bit of flavour to your meals.

If you’d like to grow any of these at home, pop into the plant area. They’re all looking fresh and full of flavour, and me and the team are always happy to help you pick the right plants to suit you.

See you soon.
